Elephants, Tigers, and Poodles, OH MY!!

4. January 2013 00:22 by jennifer | 2 Comments

Last night my family and I had the opportunity to see the new Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey circus Built to Amaze! And let me tell you, as a circus snob, it really was amazing!!

I call myself a circus snob because I grew up in Venice, FL which was the winter home of the Ringling Circus from 1959-1992. Every winter the circus trains would come rolling in to Venice and we would watch as the animals, equipment, etc., were paraded over the bridge from the train yard to the Circus Arena. It truly was a sight to behold.

My husband and I have been taking our kids to the circus since they were babies. Seriously. Our oldest daughter Haley was born in January 2004, and her first circus was January 2005. She was not even a year old. It just so happens that EVERY year the Tampa dates fall near Haley's birthday, so it's become an annual event for our family! We love it! This year it was even more AMAZING!

Getting down on the floor gave the kids the opportunity to interact with some of the performers. Ella got to put on a real circus jacket!

How cool are these cups? One of the best lines of the night was Ronin screaming "mama, my head fell off."

This was the view form our suite! We had really good seats and could see everything!

This show was much less clown-like. In fact, there weren't really any clowns, which I liked. I'm not a fan of the clown aspect of the circus. We had three favorite acts: Elephants, Tigers, and Poodles, OH MY!!

The elephants were super cool. They were dancing to Hip-Hop/Top 40 and my kids really enjoyed dancing along to the music!

And tigers are just awesome. Hearing them growl and bat at their trainer always makes me feel so vulnerable.

But our favorite part of the show was the POODLES!! The kids and I all really want a dog and the poodles put on a great show!!

We stayed for the entire show and had fun during intermission in our suite :)

This show truly was Built to Amaze and I hope you check it out when it comes to a city near you!

All opinions are my own. I received no compensation for this review, however my family was provided with a suite and tickets for my honest review.

Jenny, I grew up in Venice too! My high school graduation was in the circus pavilion and I used to volunteer for the circus when it was in town. Small world! I was also at last night's Built to Amaze show. I was glad it had fewer clowns because this was my 18yo foster daughter's first circus and she is afraid of clowns.

I loved the poodles too! Even the horses had me laughing. The animals were just wonderful!
