Update your wardrobe without commitment!!

11. March 2013 22:15 by jennifer | 12 Comments

One of the best (and yet not) things about losing 212 pounds was shopping for new clothing. Why was it both good and bad? Good because it meant that I was getting smaller and bad because I hate to shop, and I hate to spend money on clothing that wouldn't last a long time because I was still losing weight! Undecided  Bargains from the local thrift stores and consignment shops filled my closet.

I have never been one to experiment with fashion. My style is pretty basic. Solid colors, straight lines, some might even call it boring. I call it safe. And because I don't like to shop, I'm not one to really go out and spend a lot of time exploring new stores, trends, styles, etc...just not my thing.

Then *this life* happened. The life where I am on TV, my story is published in national magazines, I am recognized by strangers when I am out at the store. Suddenly my life of sloppy dressing, running around in moisture wicking clothing , and 3 sizes too big t-shirts just wasn't going to cut it anymore. But, I still hate to shop. My body is still going through shape changes as I tone up and get leaner. And I am a stay-at-home-mom now, so I dislike spending money on clothing even MORE now than I did before.

Enter Gwynnie Bee. Let me just say that YES, I KNOW THAT GWYNNIE BEE CATERS TO THE PLUS SIZE WOMAN. AND YES, I KNOW THAT I AM NOT PLUS SIZE. But I am a WOMAN WITH CURVES! That said, they also carry garments that are NOT plus size. I just have to take a bit more time to go through my online closet and make sure that the clothing I like might actually fit me!

The concept behind Gwynnie Bee is awesome for a person like me. They take out all the "style fear" that I have. I can order something, it arrives, I put it on, and either I love it and keep it for a few wearings, or I don't love it, and I immediately send it back and they send out something else in my closet. It's super easy. It's clothing without commitment!

How does it work?? This is from their website:

"Gwynnie Bee is a monthly subscription service for size 10-28 (Jenny here...they do have some items in a size 8, you just have to look and some of their clothing runs small, so it's worth a 30 day free trial to see if their sizing works for you and they will be getting smaller sizes in the very near future). You pay a monthly fee for access to an unlimited wardrobe and unlimited free shipping.

We offer a 30 day free trial period - there's no reason not to try it. Have fun with fashion. Enjoy and exchange.

Wear it. Rock it. Love it.
It takes 2-4 days for your box to arrive, filled with items that you've selected and put in your closet.

Send back what you like, when you like.
Using the pre-paid bags, send back as many garments as you like: one, two, three, or all at once. Your choice. We handle the cleaning, so send it back in any state.

As soon as you let us know you're dropping garments in the mail, your next box, with that many garments, goes out."

I'm back. It's THAT EASY! Think NetFlix for clothing!! I've gotten at least 3 shipments now. The first shipment had 7 items in it, and only 2 fit. Here they are:

I haven't worn the black dress yet, and I might not...it's a bit long for me, but I did wear the red shirt on TV, and then I sent it back. I liked it, but it did start to droop on my shoulders, so it was too big.

My second shipment was full of clothing that was all too big. Oh well, back it went. And my third shipment had items that ALL FIT!! WooHoo!! I'll be posting my Outfits of the Day (OOTD) on my Facebook page and on my Twitter feed @jennymetmorfit. Yesterday I wore a beautiful Land's End Henley in Sapphire size medium that was so soft, and was so comfortable!! My daughter Haley had a cheerleading party, and once I dropped her off and my daughter Ella and I started off on our adventure, Ella looked at me with such love in her eyes and said "mama, you are the prettiest and nicest of all the cheerleading mamas." Smile

Today I should have been back on TV, but my Ronin is very sick, so I had to take a personal day with him. I had a great outfit from Gwynnie Bee all picked out too, but as luck would have it, I have an event on Thursday so I can wear it then!Cool

Check Gwynnie Bee out. I think you'll be amazed by the quick turn-around, quality of clothing, and if you HATE shopping like I do, but LOVE getting the mail, then you will totally dig this service!! I HIGHLY recommend following them on Pinterest to get a preview of what they have available and what they have coming up! I've even created my own Gwynnie Bee favorites board on my own Pinterest account!!

Click on the link below (or in my sidebar) to get to their webpage!

If you decide you want to give them a try, then starting TODAY March 12, 2013, if you sign up for Gwynnie Bee and mention MY name Jenny Hodges/Metamorfit, you get a free, 30 day-trial subscription (up to 3 items at a time.) No risk, no commitment at all. Cancel on or before your 30 days are up and you won't be charged (but you do have to mail back the clothing.) The site is currently INVITE ONLYso tell them that I referred you, activate your account, browse around and give it a try!!

I do think the dress is pretty, and so it the blouse. I hate shopping too.

Looking Great! I love Gwynnie Bee! I actually had that blue top in my last shipment, soooo comfy!

Jen

Oh I love that dress on you! This sounds like such a cool concept!

Motivating Other Moms

What a awesome concept!!  Thanks for sharing Jenny!  After purchasing my first two pair of pants and moving out of them with in a month I realized a big shopping trip is not in my near future.  I am mixed with shopping.  I didn't enjoy it while I was heavy because what I really wanted to try on was the stuff that didn't fit me.  I wanted to try on the clothes that I use to be able to wear.  Getting closer and getting excited about the possibility of being able to walk in to a store, see something I like, and actually trying it on!  It's so freeing!

Jenny

You should totally give it a try, Rosemary!! And since you are a professional woman, they will have a LOT of great things for you to choose from. This is not your "jeans and t-shirt" type of look, which is good for me since I am trying to break free from that (at least out in public LOL)

Running Betty

What a unique concept. Like a consignment shop online. They should start one for teens! especially prom and homecoming dresses!

Too cool! You look so great Jenny! I am so proud of you! Thanks for motivating me!

Steph

Love love love Gwynniebee! I fell in love with one of the dresses and don't want to part with it yet. Some of the items ran big for me too, but the beauty is, if something doesn't fit, send it back! They ship things really quickly!

Kimberly Kindle

Jenny, You always have the best posts! I love this concept and think it is so exciting! Smile You look great! I love the blue shirt on you I think it's my favorite!

Kate Slagel

Wow what a great concept! I am surprised I have not heard of a service like this before. It is a wonderful idea. I am not a big shopper either--in fact I rather not--but I get bored of wearing the same shirts over and over and over again. I also LOVE getting the mail. Since I was a child I've lit up over seeing the mail truck come. (I have no idea why). It's like a dream come true. New clothes + New Mail - The hassle of shopping = I'm impressed.

Jenny

That's exactly how I feel, Kate Smile Love the mail. and you hit the nail on the head with your statement of: New clothes + New Mail - The hassle of shopping = I'm impressed.
