Today I am spotlighting Brooke. Brooke works out at my box CrossFit En Fuego. I first met Brooke about 6 months ago. We both worked out at 9am, but she was in the Premier classes, so while we worked out at the same time, we didn't work out together. She joined the regular classes a few months back and we really got to know each other better. She is an amazing athlete and continues to inspire me. As a mom to three young boys, she knows how important it is to set a good example. We really have got to know each other better when we competed in the Diablo Games in September. We were in different divisions (she did RX, I did scaled) so I was able to watch and cheer her on, and then in our off time we snacked and chatted. Besides both having 3 kids, we have a lot of other things in common. She's really an amazing woman, and I'm so proud to call her my friend.

How long have you been CrossFitting? 6 months
What keeps you coming back/motivated? Love the people, coaches, and how it makes me feel. A lot of encouragement and great for my self esteem.
How did you find CrossFit? Drive by it everyday. And my friend Amy asked me to try it with her. Which I did and was hooked!
What is your athletic background? Gymnast for 6 years. In 1988 won nationals in Boston.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness? Have met great friends, love working out for the first time, and have slimmed down after my 3rd baby and want to keep going.
What is the one thing you have done at CrossFit that you never thought you could do? pull ups and 4 wods in one day RX.
What motivates/inspires you? My boys and being healthy.
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? My first competition the Diablo Games doing RX.
Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve through CrossFit? Get my pre-kids body back and do a Muscle up
What goals have you achieved in CrossFit? Haven’t really made any goals but the fact that I love working out his a huge achievement for me!
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit? Photograhpy, making photo books and DVD slideshows. Watching my boys play soccer.
Do you follow a special diet? Paleo? Whole30? Just try to eat clean such as organic, grass fed meat, raw milk, and good fats.
What is your favorite meal? Steak, veggies, and sweet potato.
Any advice for new members? Don’t be intimated by experienced crossfitters! They were a beginner once too! Go at your own pace and listen to your body.
Listen to YOUR body!! CrossFit has come under some criticism lately for pushing people too hard. But if you listen to YOUR body you'll know when something doesn't feel right and you'll know to step back, and rest.
