Weekly Workouts February 9-15

Whew! What a great week I had! I followed my diet to a "T" and lost 5.2 pounds this week and kicked butt in all my workouts. What did I do this week?

Weekly Workout Schedule February 9-February 15

Sunday-REST!! Steps: 15,716

Monday-CrossFit + 2 miles This workout pretty much sucked! LOL.Complete a 10 minute AMRAP of:
- 5 Wall Balls
- 5 Double Unders
- 10 Wall Balls
- 10 Double Unders
- 15 Wall Balls
- 15 Double Unders
- 20 Wall Balls
- 20 Double Unders

-30 Wall Balls

And that's as far as I made it. I was pretty happy with how far I got especially since on the FIRST set of wall-balls I jammed my little finger :( Hurt like the dickens!

Calories: 619

Steps: 19,098

Tuesday-REST DAY! I needed a rest day to let my jammed finger mend a little bit. I was still really active.

Total Steps: 21,136

Wednesday-CrossFit+2 miles Thankfully my jammed finger is all better Smile

"Broken Helen"
For Time Complete:
- 200m Shuttle Run
- 12 KB Swings (53/35)
- 6 Pull-Ups
* 6 Rounds

Time: 16:22

This WOD left me gasping for air!! I really enjoyed it because one of our coaches (and box owner, Jen) was able to do the WOD with us while her husband coached us. Helen is her favorite girl, so she was FLYING though this workout and kept me very inspired!

Calories: 774

Total Steps: 14,755

Thursday-CrossFit+2 miles

EMOM for 12 minutes complete:
1 Squat Clean (or Power Clean into Front Squat) + 3 Front Squats

This WOD was much more difficult than I thought it was going to be. Squat cleans and front squats are difficult for me because of my hip flexors. When I get into the "ass kissing grass" position, I can't get back up if I have too much weight, so I maxed out at 55 pounds because I couldn't get back up! But my heart rate got up and my legs were feeling the squats!

Calories: 708

Steps: 13,511

Friday-CrossFit. On Thursday night I signed up for the TNL Festivus Games (a CrossFit competition) as did a few of my box buddies, so we decided to do the first 3 WOD's from the upcoming competition. I'm so glad that they released them early so we could practice!

WOD 1
1000m row FOR TIME. There is a 6 minute cap (I finished in 4:30)
Once the running clock hits 6 minutes:
WOD 2
Athlete must establish a 1RM CLEAN in 6 min (I got up to 90#)
WOD 3
10 KB swing 53/35 - Intermediate 35/26 - Novice
20 sit ups
30 Box overs 24/20
8 min AMRAP

WOD 3 was TOUGH on the 20" box. I  managed 2 complete rounds (using a 30# Kettlebell) and 3 box overs for round 3.

Calories: 573

Steps: 14,567 (wow...look at 4567 neat-o)

Saturday- SPARTAN RACE!!

This was my FIRST Spartan Race and I was super nervous! I've done a ton of mud runs, but for some reason this one had me really freaked out. But I did it, and I did much better than I thought I would. But...I forget to wear my heart rate monitor, so I have no idea how many calories I burned...but based on how I was feeling, I am going to estimate. I did wear my Loop, but since I didn't have my H7 on, it didn't calculate workout calories, just estimated overall calories for the day. A full review post will be coming soon.

Calories: 1,040

Steps: 20,771

Weekly Total:

119581 steps counted
19596 calories burned

Overall, I had a pretty fantastic week in workouts. How was your week??

  • I'm curious. How do they come up with the names for the cross fit workouts, like Broken Helen?
  • Coach Glassman, the founder and President of CrossFit explained it best. “I want to explain the workout once and then give it a name.  I thought that anything that left you flat on your back, looking up at the sky asking ‘what just happened to me?’ deserved a females name.  Workouts are just like storms, they wreak havoc on towns.”   And that's how they name the girls Smile
  • wow! You are one busy lady Smile Congrats on tackling the Spartan - the name alone is intimidating
