I L.O.V.E audio books. And I've said it before, and I'll say it again, listening to audio books totally counts as reading!!
If I'm not listening to the Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording (which, BTW, you can download/stream FREE through Hoopla with your HCPLC library card. Click HERE if you'd like to check it out!) then I am listening to an audio book. Of course, I have my favorite audio books and audio book narrators. If I'm lucky enough, the two will meet and I will have an epic listening experience. So which audio books are my favorite? In no particular order (well, not true. They are in alphabetical order) my favorites are:
Staff curated a wonderful list of new audio books. Of these books there are two that I have put on my TBR list. Artemis by Andy Weir, narrated by Rosario Dawson and Strange Weather by Joe Hill. Strange Weather is a collection of 4 short stories, and each story has a different narrator. Snapshot, performed by Wil Wheaton (yes, THAT Wil Wheaton), is the disturbing story of a Silicon Valley adolescent who finds himself threatened by The Phoenician, a tattooed thug who possesses a Polaroid Instant Camera that erases memories snap by snap. In Aloft, performed by Dennis Boutsikaris, a young man takes to the skies to experience his first parachute jump...and winds up a castaway on an impossibly solid cloud, a Prospero's island of roiling vapor that seems animated by a mind of its own. Rain, performed by Kate Mulgrew (yes, THAT Kate Mulgrew) takes us on a journey to a seemingly ordinary day in Boulder, Colorado, when the clouds open up in a downpour of nails - splinters of bright crystal that shred the skin of anyone not safely under cover. This story explores this escalating apocalyptic event as the deluge of nails spreads out across the country and around the world. In Loaded, performed by Stephen Lang, a mall security guard in a coastal Florida town courageously stops a mass shooting and becomes a hero to the modern gun rights movement. But under the glare of the spotlights, his story begins to unravel, taking his sanity with it. When an out-of-control summer blaze approaches the town, he will reach for the gun again and embark on one last day of reckoning.
And just in case you didn't already know, Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King (yes, THAT Stephen King)
Do YOU listen to audio books? Who is your favorite narrator? Do any of these audio books sound like something you'd like to read?
